Project Name

Virginia Tech/Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute (VTC SOM & RI)
  • The VTC SOM and RI is a collaboration of Virginia Tech and Carilion conceived under the Public Private Education Facilies and Infrastructure Act (PPEA) of 2002. Carilion is serving as developer of the project.
  • The project includes construction of approximately 50,000 GSF of space for the School of Medicine and 100,000 GSF of space for the Research Institute for a total of 150,000 GSF of space. The building includes three levels of occupied space over parking (4 stories). The School of Medicine and Research Institute are seperated by an Atrium that "communicate" at the first floor level.
