Campus Fiber Optics Project

The project will install a new fiber-optic backbone and building connections that increase capacity and diversity to ensure adequate and reliable service to the University.


  • Construction has recently been completed to accommodate wiring connections and equipment installation. The fiber optic backbone & building connections includes installing the new fiber optic cable to the existing buildings CNS closets. Due to cost savings in efficiencies & lack of weather delays the number of buildings in phase three (building fiber feeder upgrade) have been increased from 38 to 62 buildings. Installation was completed in March 2014 with a savings of over $200,000 of the $2,000,000 project. Project closeout documents are complete as of summer 2014.
